After 19 years in the industry Cheryl joined Insight as Designer of Cool Stuff because she creates cool stuff and she thought it was the perfect title for herself. Her first memory of being an artist and getting to create “cool stuff” goes back to age 4. Her sketch pad and huge box of crayons went with her everywhere. If she ran out of paper, she drew on napkins, paper plates, and a couple of times the kitchen table, which she was quickly reprimanded for! She often pushed her four-year-old artistic skills outside the box, once cutting off chunks of hair from her own head and pasting them onto to her fantastic crayon rendition of a cat. It needed fur, right?
Cheryl’s love of art continued throughout school, prompting her to seek a career in the field. In 1987 she married her high school sweetheart and began to follow him around the world, as an Air Force wife. She and her husband moved to Fort Walton Beach in 2001, and she began working at a small boutique design firm in Destin as art director during which time she earned her BA degree in communications with a minor in marketing from the University of West Florida. Before joining Insight she had amassed numerous graphic design awards as a freelancer.
